Patrick Vu

Symphony Chorus Director

Patrick Vu is a Vietnamese-American composer, conductor, and educator from Allen, Texas whose music and work has quickly gained attention across the United States and beyond. In addition to his position as the Director of the Allen Symphony Chorus, Patrick is the Associate Choir Director at Rockwall-Heath High School and a section leader and conductor at St. Monica Catholic Church in Dallas, TX. Patrick frequently serves as an invited clinician for various school, church, and community choirs in Texas and beyond. He recently received his Master’s in Choral Conducting from Texas Tech University, where he served as the Associate Conductor for the Lubbock Chorale, the TTU Matador Singers, and the flagship TTU University Choir.

As a composer, Patrick has received commissions and performances from organizations around the world including VocalEssence, Chor Leoni, the National Children's Choir of Great Britain, Dallas Chamber Choir, Chorus Austin, Turtle Creek Chorale, Young New Yorkers’ Chorus, Choral Arts Ensemble of Portland, Lubbock Chorale, Fort Worth Opera, the Savannah VOICE Festival, and numerous universities around the country. Patrick was awarded the 2023 American Choral Directors Association Raymond Brock Prize for his piece “On the Hillside.”  In 2026, he will receive his Carnegie Hall debut with a premiere of a new choral work commissioned by National Concerts. His choral music is published by Gentry, Hinshaw, Galaxy, Carl Fischer, Hal Leonard, and Alliance.

In 2022, Patrick graduated with a BM in Music Composition and a BME in Vocal Music Education from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. In 2024, Patrick received an MM in Choral Conducting from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.
