The Allen Symphony Chorus Needs You!!
Auditions for our 2008-2009 Season are underway to prepare for a great season of concerts and special events that include our annual holiday concert, Spring performance and smaller, intimate performances in our community.
Past performances include Mozart’s moving Requiem, Beethoven’s celebrated Symphony No. 9 (Ode To Joy), and selections from Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Andrew Lloyd Webber, P.D.Q. Bach, Peter J. Wilhousky and others. Allen Symphony Chorus performances have also included collaborations with Brookhaven Choral Society, Collin College Chorale & Chamber Singers, the Plano Civic Chorus, North Central Texas Chorale from Gainesville and Texas Voices.
Programming for this season will include the following holiday selections: Welcome All Wonders, Here’s a Pretty Little Baby, Christmas Spiritual Medley, What Sweeter Music, Ding Dong Merrily on High, Dona nobis pacem, and Randol Alan Bass’ Gloria. The spring concert’s major work is Haydn’s Nelson Mass.
If you love to sing, please don't miss this wonderful opportunity to join us! We are recruiting voices in all vocal ranges. Under the direction of choral director Kevin Holland, regular rehearsals are held on Monday evenings from 7:00 until 9:00pm at First United Methodist Church of Allen, located at 601 N. Greenville Avenue in Allen. Additional rehearsals with the Orchestra are held the week of our performance dates, and on the morning of the spring concert.
